MTEP supports a variety of "Responsive Energy Devices." We are continuously qualifying different devices. Contact us to learn if your exact make and model is eligible. After enrolling in MTEP, we will work with you to arrange for professional installation of enabling communications equipment, at no cost.

Water Heaters

Heat pump-based water heaters can act as a thermal battery -- heating water when electricity is plentiful and less expensive and reducing power consumption when electricity is scarce and expensive.

Home Storage Batteries

Home storage batteries discharge to the grid when the grid is stressed. Batteries participating in MTEP can also provide backup during power outages.

Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps

Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps connected to MTEP turn your house into a thermal battery. They adjust your home's temperature when electricity is expensive, and pre-heat or pre-cool your home when energy is more abundant and less expensive.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles and connected chargers adjust charging rates based on grid conditions to support the grid during peak demands. In the future, EVs may also be able to discharge to the grid like a home storage battery.
